My name is Ana and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. This channel is all about my journey to grow cacti, succulents and other plants that thrive in a desert environment. I have a passion especially for growing cacti. I want people to be able to see beyond their prickly facade and to appreciate their unique ability to adapt to extreme weather conditions. Most importantly, I wish to show the world that cacti produce one of the most diverse, beautiful and colorful flowers. This channel features how-to videos, plant care tips and tricks, visits to various gardens and nurseries, learning from people with the same passion and showcasing the beauty of desert gardening.
I am hoping to connect to other cactus and succulent lovers, that we may learn from each other’s experiences, while I share mine… over a cup of coffee!

You need a knife to open your boxes…lol
lol! The struggle is real. 🤣
Hey! Its best not to promote Miles's business as he likes to keep it more down low. You can always edit this to fix it! He even told me not to make any online reviews, and he doesn't like when people post his greenhouse that's why you rarely see posts on him.
Oh thanks. I had no idea.
@@CactusCaffeine You can call him through the phone, he'll tell you why. He has extremely limited stock with only four greenhouse and extremely low prices. If a lot of people buy from him he'll go out of stock too quickly.
The first cactus I’ve ever grown from seed actually came from one of my sister’s Starbucks dragonfruit drinks. The germination rate wasn’t great, but if you’re able to collect a bunch of them, it is possible (if you’re lucky) to get a dragonfruit plant to grow. It took about an entire month before it sprouted (probably because the dragonfruit for the drinks was originally freeze dried?) and only one seed out of ~30 actually emerged through the soil. But when it did sprout, I was very excited! Cacti and succulents in general are by far my favorite plants to grow 😊
About a month since it first appeared through the soil, it is now about an inch tall with maybe 5-7 sets of tiny hair-like spines. It’s doing great, but will definitely be quite a while before I’m able to get any fruit from it. I’ve heard they take several years, 6-10 in some cases, to become mature enough to flower and fruit when grown from seed
Very informative. Thank you!
Oh spectacular blooms as always Ana....❤❤❤❤😊
I rooted my small fairy castle cactus cutting in about 6 to 7 weeks with just air dry to callous the wound for about 2 to 3 days then replant in cactus soil mix and daily light misting of top layer of soil 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
How are your fingers not full of those nasty barbed cactus spikes?
Great video. The cactus seedlings are beautiful! I can’t wait to start mine.
Pumice rules!! Every good cactust/succulent keeper needs a bag of sand, pumice, and ¼" lava rock on hand at all times. Ive rooted in 100% sand a bunch, but i figure 100% pumice would be great!! I figure the small lava rock would be great too, providing plenty good drainage and airation mix for roots. My next rooting i will try the 100% pumice route. Happy keeping!!
Oh, good to know that 100% sand works, too. Thanks for sharing your experience
thanks for your helpful tutorial😃
I went today and it was wonderful I bought a mission to mars agave!
Great video Ana!!! I'm sure those humifusas will do great under your care !!! Thanks for the shout out!!! Deb actually got the cup and towels for you. I forgot to write that on the paper. Oops! The little Euphorbia hybrid hasn't been named because I wanted to see what real form it might take on. These hybrids tend to shape shift over the years and change. My enigma has changed a lot since it first came up. But i guess giving it my name is good enough!! I have a ceriformis X polygona hybrid I call Little Debbie for Deb. Thanks again Ana for sharing !!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌻🌷🌴💐🍀🌱🌸🌳🪴🌹🌾😃👍
Oh, thank you so much Deb for my cup and towels. Ladies certainly know how to choose cute stuff for the kitchen. 😊 Yes, I will call them Euphorbia Clyde until you get to officially name them. Thank you again Clyde for my box of goodies. 😍
I'm a bonsai guy but I just got one a week ago and I've been into cacti and succulents ever since. I happen to just come across it at my local asian market. First time ever seeing one. I got pricked while repotting it and had bump on that spot for like 3 days.
I have the Opuntia with the pretty yellow flower way up north in Canada and they do so well even in our super cold winters.
Oh yes! No need for me to worry during our much milder winter here.
so very kind and generous of Clyde, and I LOVE your cactus rooting propagations, thanks so much for sharing
Awesome plants and gifts from Clyde 😊 I've been having good success with rooting cuttings in pure grit, managed to save another Haworthia recently that way, too. Thank you for sharing with us as always, Ana. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜☕
I want someone to make a drop tuned 300 BPM version of your opening song
Hi Ana! I ❤ how you Plant tubers send each other gifts and plants. So sweet!
thank you!
Cor, excellent towel & cup 😎 I mentioned Glochid Toilet paper to Clyde a few weeks back so don't be tempted to re use any of it 😬😁 Look forward to seeing the flowers Ana 🙂🙂🌵🌵
Hahaha!!!😂
Really thanks for this, want to root some euphorbias, here in the Midwest it is raining like crazy so your method sounds really smart.
Tuna is a great fruit for summer 😊
Good morning thank you for Sharing your garden lovely cactus lovely succulents beautiful cactus blossom flower 🌵🌵❤😎🌵🌵
I'm fairly new to your channel. I've been growing night bloomers in Tucson for years now but all I know about them has been learned through trial and lots of errors. I'm finding lots of helpful information for growing, propagating, feeding, and caring for my fairly extensive collection of cactus and succulents from your videos. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your knowledge. Zk
Very helpful! Thanks! Zk
Very informative and helpful. Thanks for posting! Zk
Hi Ana. Should i plant my cactus on pumice alone or it's just for purposes of having it rooted then transplant when fully rooted? thanks and more power.
I forgot to mention that my rooting containers have drainage holes in the bottom. I water the cuttings the same time I water my cactus. I don’t worry much about rotting as my medium is very light and airy. 🙂
Clyde is killing it
Cheer on the coffee im drinking coffee too 😊
Perfect! Cactus and coffee 😉
I recently found your channel and find it very helpful to me. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Within the last year I began keeping cactus and succulents inside under supplemenatal lighting. I do have a few outdoors from spring to early fall, but still learning. Thanks again
WOW AWESOME new BEAUTIES from Clyde Ana :-D and so very kind and generous of Clyde, the Euphorbia hybrid and the Opuntia humifusas are STUNNERS and the cactus tumbler and tea towels are so COOL too haha, and I LOVE your cactus rooting propagations, thanks so much for sharing the fantastic unboxing with us Ana, and sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER from Hans and me for a fantastic Thursday XXXX <3
Many thanks Lyn! I’m excited to see how Clyde’s euphorbia looks like when it grows. ☺️
Hi! I’m from Yuma Arizona now retired in Augusta Georgia. Huge difference in weather. I love and grow cactus. 🌵 when I try to root a cactus cutting, they never grow roots. Are you saying you put it in pumice? I had one that I grew from a baby for about 15 years it grew to be about 5 feet tall and then one winter it just got hollow and dried out in the center and died. I’m still heartbroken over it.
Aww, I’m sorry you had a cactus rot, especially after growing it for so many years. Yes, I root mine in pumice or pumice + coco coir. Like I showed in the last part of the video, I get better success rate in rooting them that way. I also water it when I water my other cactus as it roots. I don’t worry about rotting as my rooting medium is very light and airy. 😊
How often should you water the cuttings?
Fascinating Cactus! Good Coffee too😂😂😂😂
What a lovely Flowers Like 324 My friend thank you for good sharing. Have a good relationship 😊
Thanks for visiting
Great information! I have a cactus whose roots look good but it feels soft. Could this be root rot?
Such beautiful pretty blooms. ❤
Growing for second time in many years. Tyvm for all information.😊
Wonderful!
I'm always amazed at how beautiful your cactus blooms are! I just relocated to Laughlin and hopefully I will have a small cactus garden in bloom some day. I'll just fill my balcony with cactus and wait for the magic! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous garden!
Me thinking I need to literally scoop up pollen off the ground and sprinkle it in the flower. 😶🌫️
Que incrível... muito lindos seus cactos. ❤ Um espetáculo... parabéns 👏. Um jardim perfeito!❤ 🇧🇷
Thank you so much for your kind compliment.

Very informative. I have a barrel cactus that has seeds. I attempted to grow them with 100% failure. Not as straightforward as I thought!! Thank you for this. I’m excited to try agaib
I failed my first attempt to sow cactus seeds, too! I bought a cactus growing kit and followed the box’s instructions and none germinated. 😆 They just need extra help germinating in cultivation. Good luck! 👍🏼 😉
So pretty
Can you use these same soil mixes for Texas Sage and tacoma stans ? Thanks in advance
One of my cacti bloomed for the first time this year. She was in such poor shape when I got her, and not she's thriving! I need to figure out the scientific name for proper id, but just wow what a beautiful big white flower and THERE'S A SECOND!! 🙌
Hi, I just made a cutting on my cactus and I followed your advice and applied cinnamon on the cutting of the parent cactus. Should I just leave the cinnamon on it and will it be absorbed while the cutting dries or should I reapply cinnamon on it? Does it have to be a thick layer of cinnamon? Also regarding the cut section, I will let it callus, just as it is, for as you said 3 days to a week (I guess it's safe when it's not moisture anymore). I suppose I don't have to apply cinnamon on the cut section, right? And after I plant the cut section, how often should I water it until it grows roots? Thank you! I like your cactuses! 🌵
On the parent cactus, I leave the cinnamon on it. No need to reapply. For the cutting, I also apply cinnamon if it has a big cut. I just mist the top of the soil until roots form. A little moisture will encourage it to root. But if you live in a high humidity place, misting may not even be necessary and they will root in the soil just fine. Once it roots, water as you would your cactus.
Thank you very much! ❤️
The flowers are stunning and the music perfect. 🤩 I’m so amazed at how many flowers there are! Do you get pollinators and/or birds? Thanks for the tour!! So inspiring!
Thank you for your kind words. I get bees and hummingbirds as my pollinators. 🙂
